Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and student-centered Middle School Math Teacher for Grades 6-8. The ideal candidate brings strong mathematical content knowledge, a passion for making math accessible and meaningful, and the ability to guide students through the critical transition from foundational arithmetic to algebraic reasoning - all within an Islamic educational framework.
Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction across grades 6-8, including number sense, ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, geometry, statistics, and Pre-Algebra/Algebra I concepts
Develop lesson plans that promote mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and real-world application
Differentiate instruction to support all learners, including those requiring enrichment or intervention
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
Connect mathematical concepts to Islamic principles where appropriate - such as patterns, geometry in Islamic art, and ethics in data interpretation - to foster student engagement and relevance
Maintain accurate student records, grade submissions, and timely progress reports
School Community & Additional Duties
Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Communicate proactively and professionally with parents regarding academic progress and student needs
Collaborate with grade-level teams and academic leadership for curriculum alignment, vertical planning, and school improvement
Participate in professional development sessions, curriculum nights, parent engagement events, and school-wide activities
Perform additional school duties as assigned by administration, which may include supervision responsibilities such as hallway monitoring, carpool duty, lunch supervision, and other school-wide operational needs; all staff members are expected to contribute to the smooth and safe daily functioning of the school community
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of middle school or secondary mathematics teaching experience
Strong content knowledge in middle school mathematics including Pre-Algebra and Algebra I
Proven ability to manage a classroom effectively and build positive student relationships
Commitment to and respect for the Islamic school mission and values
Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Valid North Carolina Teaching License or state teacher certification in Mathematics
Experience in an Islamic or faith-based school setting
Familiarity with Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS-M)
Experience with data-driven instruction, math intervention strategies, or gifted mathematics education
Proficiency with educational technology tools and learning management systems
Bilingual in Arabic and English
