The classroom teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an appropriate instructionalprograminan independentK-12schoolenvironment that guides andencouragesstudents to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Teachers within grade and/or subject levels work as a team under the supervision of the Division Head and are full-time exempt employees.
The ideal candidate is a student-centered, collaborative educator who is passionate about inquiry-based science instruction and skilled in differentiating learning to meet diverse student needs. They foster a structured, engaging classroom environment, integrate technology effectively, and bring strong laboratory experience. An excellent communicator and team player, the successful candidate partners with colleagues and families while supporting the mission of The Fletcher School and helping each student reach their full academic potential.
PrimaryDuties
The teacher will:

Science(i.e.,Biology,Chemistry and/ or Physics). - plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are structured, multisensory,andtargetedtoindividuallearningstylesinordertofacilitateactivelearning and assist students in achieving their potential.
- ensurethatcurriculum,lesson plans,andevaluationsareinaccordancewith
North Carolina state standards and established school procedures and pedagogy. - collaborate with grade-level team to achieve optimum outcome for each student.
- instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- managestudentbehaviorintheclassroombyestablishingandenforcingrulesand procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the School.
- provide appropriate feedback and encouragement to students on their work.
- monitortheprogressofindividualstudentsanduseinformationtoadjustteaching strategies.
- maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
- advise up to six students with academic guidance and executive functioning skills.
- participate in grade-level, school, and parent meetings.
- communicatenecessaryinformationregularlytostudents,colleagues,and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- prepare classroom for class activities.
- provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- foster a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective teaching strategies, clear communication, and thoughtful classroom management techniques.
- Demonstratepreparationandskillinworkingwithstudentsfromdiversecultural, economic and ability backgrounds
- Encourageparentandcommunityinvolvement,obtaininformationforparentswhen requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails
- Participate in Professional Learning Program ,Professional Learning Communities ,andother appropriate professional activities
- Participateinextracurricularactivitiessuchassocialactivities,sporting activities,clubsand student organizations as requested
- Beapositiveteam-playerandcommunicateeffectivelywithcolleagues,supervisors, students, and families
- Otherdutiesmaybeassigned
- BA/BSdegreeineducationorarelatedfield(Sciences) fromanaccreditedinstitution
- Threetofiveyearsofexperienceteachingscienceusinginquiry-based methodology
- Knowledgeandexpertiseinsetup,organization,andimplementationoflaboratory activities is essential
- Trainingorexperiencein Special Education preferred .Haveattendorwillingnesstoattend Orton-Gillingham Associate level course orabove
- Haveorwillingnesstoobtain Apple Teacher certification
- Abilitytoestablishandmaintaincooperativeandeffectiveworkingrelationships
- Abilitytocommunicateeffectivelyorallyandinwriting
- Knowledgeandimplementationofrelevanttechnology
- Experience with Google Suite (Classroom,Drive,Docs,Sheets,Forms,etc.)is desirable
- Acriminalhistorybackgroundcheckisrequiredofall employees.
- Federallawrequiresallemployerstoverifytheidentityandemploymenteligibilityofallpersons hired to work in the United States. The Fletcher School participates in the E-Verify program.
