SUMMARY

The Fire Training Administrator manages the administrative operations of the Charlotte Fire Department's Learning and Development Program. This position provides leadership in planning, development, execution, and evaluation of department-wide training and professional development initiatives. Responsibilities include administering the department's learning management systems and providing end-user support, troubleshooting, maintaining departmental training records, instructional design, and supporting employee development and organizational readiness. The position collaborates with fire service experts to develop, implement, and continuously improve instructional programs and training curricula that support departmental goals and compliance with applicable standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate fire and EMS training and employee-development programs through classroom, practical, simulation, online, conference, and workshop formats.
  • Partner with fire service subject matter experts to assess learning needs and develop or improve curricula, lesson plans, and instructional programs (LMS).
  • Administer the Workday Learning Management System, including course and curriculum setup, enrollments, assignments, completion tracking, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate employee training and certification records using relevant software systems.
  • Develop instructional materials, including lesson plans, participant and facilitator guides, workbooks, eLearning modules, presentations, videos, visual aids, and job aids.
  • Design and evaluate assessments to measure learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Analyze training data and prepare reports to identify trends, monitor compliance, evaluate programs, and support leadership decisions.
  • Ensure training records, curricula, and materials comply with applicable federal, state, local, North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission, and NFPA requirements.
  • Assist with policies, procedures, and best practices for organizational learning and employee development.
  • Create e-learning storyboards, scripts, interactive activities, and multi-media materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
