Role Description

The After School Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Charlotte, NC, responsible for leading engaging STEAM-focused classes for elementary and middle school students. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing materials and classroom setups, delivering age-appropriate lessons, and guiding students through hands-on building and creative projects. The role involves managing classroom dynamics, ensuring a safe and welcoming learning environment, and fostering curiosity, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.

After School Teachers communicate regularly with program coordinators and caregivers, provide feedback on student progress, and contribute ideas to improve curriculum and activities. Additional duties may include supporting special events, assisting with program logistics, and participating in ongoing training to maintain high instructional standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong Teaching and Education experience, preferably in after-school, camp, or enrichment settings.
  • Ability to create and adapt Lesson Planning to different ages, skill levels, and learning styles.
  • Excellent Communication skills for working with children, caregivers, and colleagues.
  • Experience with Training or mentoring students in hands-on or project-based learning environments.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for STEAM education, making, or tinkering, and comfort with basic tools and materials.
  • Ability to manage groups of children safely and positively, maintaining an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Availability for full-time, on-site work during after-school hours and occasional weekends or school breaks.
  • Relevant education or experience in teaching, childcare, engineering, arts, or related fields; degree or coursework in education or a STEM/STEAM discipline is a plus.
  • Background check eligibility as required for working with children.
