** SUMMARY
* * This position is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating programming designed to support ongoing professional and career development of staff from entry level to senior leader. This position will actively support Charlotte Water’s strategic training and development programs and initiatives. The Training Specialist will coordinate and instruct staff across all divisions within the utility.
The successful candidate will possess strong customer service, organizational, and leadership skills and have experience developing and implementing training initiatives and curricula. The candidate will be highly self-motivated and require minimal coaching or supervision, demonstrate the ability to lead in a team environment, be results-oriented, customer-focused, and be a creative problem solver. The ideal candidate will demonstrate engaging training and facilitation skills that meet the needs of our internal customers.
** The salary for this position is $82,883 - $92,092.99 commensurate with experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* * Provides training and development department-wide by implementing strategic training initiatives, curriculum design, training delivery, and group facilitation to meet organizational goals and career development needs of employees.
* Supports a portfolio of divisions within the department as a learning and development liaison, consulting with staff to provide optimized learning and development services.
* Leads succession planning services for assigned divisions and/or roles.
* Offers facilitation services for assigned divisions and/or roles.
* Facilitates training both virtually and in-person.
* Consults with leaders, managers, supervisors, and subject matter experts to develop and refine curricula to address evolving department needs.
* Assesses and selects appropriate training media based on audience, content, and expected outcome to maximize learning impact.
* Creates course communication materials and handles course logistics, including facility setup and equipment coordination.
* Coordinates the completion of training assignments including tracking participant progress and meeting required milestones.
* Provides interpersonal expertise when working with employees ranging from front-line workers to senior leadership.
* Assesses training and programming effectiveness to ensure participants' performance is aligned with the skills and competencies they are taught and adjusting as needed.
* Partners with Workforce Development staff to offer training and development services for Workforce participants, including Career Training Academy employees, Co-Ops, Apprentices, and Interns.
