Job Title: Project Captain
Department: Architecture
Reports to: Senior Project Manager/Project Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Project Captain reports to a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager and is responsible for focusing on a particular aspect of a project.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis role may supervise Designer I.
ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Produce contract documents conforming to building codes and zoning regulations.
- Work with engineering consultants.
- Check shop drawings.
- Conduct site visits.
- Assist the Project Leader as needed.
Skills and Abilities
- Good working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and approval processes.
- Good understanding and knowledge of building systems and site requirements such as Structural, MEP, Civil, and Geo-Tech.
- Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious.
- Able to work well with minimal direction and supervision.
- Proficient in current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture.
- A minimum of 2 years of construction experience or a combination of 4 years of experience in commercial retail/mixed-use or multi-family housing projects is required.
- Licensure in architecture is preferred.
