Internship OverviewProject Controls Interns support the planning, execution, and monitoring of critical capital projects across Duke Energy's business. Interns work directly with project teams and assist in key project management functions, with increasing responsibility as experience and skills develop.
Potential Responsibilities May Include- Monitoring project costs and schedules
- Supporting project communications and reporting
- Assisting with risk identification and mitigation activities
- Analyzing project performance metrics
- Reviewing schedule and cost management data for quality and accuracy
- Developing reports and dashboards to support project decision-making
Project Controls professionals help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Through effective cost and schedule management, they provide the insights and reporting needed to drive successful project outcomes.

TransmissionThe Transmission organization supports the design, analysis, assessment, and continuous improvement of Duke Energy's transmission system and substations across our service territory. Teams work on projects that enhance system reliability, support growth, and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of electricity to our customers.
Project Management & Construction (PMC)Project Management & Construction Is Leading One Of The Largest Infrastructure Buildouts In Duke Energy's History. Interns Within PMC Gain Exposure To The Planning And Execution Of Complex, Large-scale Projects That Are Helping Shape The Future Of Energy. As Part Of Duke Energy's Strategy To Meet Growing Energy Demand And Advance Grid Modernization, PMC Plans And Delivers a Diverse Portfolio Of Projects, Including
- Utility‑scale solar generation
- Battery energy storage systems
- Natural gas generation facilities
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a four‑year degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Building Science Accounting, Business Administration, Project Management, or other related degree
- Must not graduate prior to August 2027
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Microsoft Excel experience, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP etc.
- Financial experience
- Data analytics experience
- Prior project management controls experience
- Must be able to work full‑time (40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the summer.
