Overview

Watercare Mining is a water purification supplier delivering tailor-made solutions in water treatment chemicals and engineered plants, including potable and wastewater purification. We provide process engineering design, R&D, and support services across water treatment, solid-liquid separation, chemical dosing, remote monitoring and control, and mineral process optimization. Our focus is on operations and maintenance of water treatment plants and related infrastructure with skilled operating and maintenance personnel.

Watercare Innovations is based in Charlotte, the United States, and Gauteng, South Africa.

Chemical Engineers (or Process Engineers) are responsible for developing new industrial processes, designing new process plants and equipment, or modifying existing ones. The processes they formulate are used to develop products and technical solutions across oil and gas, and water treatment.

• Development of PFDs and P&IDs
• Development of control philosophies
• Compilation of mass and energy balances for process design purposes
• Assist with commissioning and plant handover
• Designing and testing of new processes and process upgrades
• Ensuring developed processes comply with safety and quality standards
• Using and developing process simulation software to optimize, troubleshoot, and reduce costs
• Collecting data required to make improvements and modifications to existing systems
• Overseeing the process portion during the construction of new plants
• Purchasing and installing equipment when competent to do so
• Applying scientific principles related to magnitude, momentum, heat transfer, etc.
• Consult on plant operations
• Developing best practice procedures and manuals for equipment pertaining to the WcM
• Maintaining standard equipment ranges
• Assisting with the development of standard operating instructions and design procedures
• Investigating and troubleshooting plant/process problems
• Plant/process monitoring and reporting
• Scheduling and coordinating work to tight deadlines within budgets
• Ensuring equipment meets specifications and capacities
• Liaising with Mechanical/Electrical Engineers and other involved parties
• Comply with the Watercare Mining SHEQ IMS (Integrated Management System)
• Assisting with the development of technical proposals for new systems, including CAPEX and OPEX estimations
• Scheduling and coordinating risk assessments and HAZOP studies as required

• B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering or a related field
• 3–5 years of proven experience in process engineering, with strong technical skills and familiarity with process simulations

• Analytical thinker with the ability to identify, assess, and solve problems
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
• Adaptable, organized, and driven by innovation and efficiency
• Empathetic and able to inspire and lead teams
