Morgan Corp. is seeking an Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction to join our Charlotte-based estimating team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for heavy civil projects, including earthwork, underground utilities, paving, and site development. This position is ideal for an estimator who understands civil means and methods and can support bids from initial takeoff through final submission and turnover.

• Attend and participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits
• Review bid packages, including plans, specifications, CAD files, and geotechnical reports
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for:
• Earthwork
• Paving and site development
• Labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor pricing
• Solicit, review, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Identify scope gaps, risks, assumptions, and clarifications
• Maintain organized bid files and estimate documentation
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams on bid requirements and schedules
• Assist with preliminary budgets, value engineering, and preconstruction planning
• Support bid closeout and project turnover to operations
• Maintain and develop relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Assist in mentoring and training junior estimators
• Occasional travel, including overnight

• 5+ years of experience in heavy civil estimating, civil construction, or project engineering/management
• Proven experience estimating earthwork, utilities, and/or paving projects
• Ability to independently perform quantity takeoffs and pricing
• Strong attention to detail with solid problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering, or a related field OR
• Associate degree in Drafting, CAD, or Civil Technology with relevant field/estimating experience

• Agtek (or equivalent earthwork takeoff software)
• AutoCAD
• Google Earth
• Primarily office-based with collaboration across estimating and operations teams
• Frequent sitting, standing, and walking
