Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 1 - Nuclear
Join Sargent & Lundy to work on major process controls engineering projects in the nuclear power sector, including advanced reactor technology, small modular reactors, and digital modernization of existing plants.
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and requires in‑office work 3 days per week.
Responsibilities- Digital systems – PLC, DCS, touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems.
- Develop functional requirements and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control components.
- Prepare process instrumentation replacement evaluation reports and nuclear modification packages.
- Design mechatronics and control systems for pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines, and reactors.
- Create P&’s and system design descriptions.
- Attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure client satisfaction.
- Mentor less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers.
- Support station outage activities as required.
- BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET approved program with coursework in instrumentation, mechatronics, and process controls design engineering.
- 5+ years of design engineering experience for process control systems; preference for nuclear power plant control system experience.
- Experience with low‑ and medium‑voltage distribution system controls, turbines, pumps, feedwater control, and data displays.
- Experience with instrumentation and controls system design for BWR or PWR reactors, including DCS for turbine, control, feedwater, and data display.
- Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre‑engineered systems for execution of system design.
- Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

$82,380.00 – $ (plus discretionary bonus).
