** SUMMARY
* * The City of Charlotte’s Department of General Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Project Manager to join the Consultant Project Management Program within the Engineering Services Division. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy managing consultant-designed design projects, coordinating across departments, and delivering impactful transportation infrastructure for a growing city.
** Major
Duties and Responsibilities:
*** Manage consultant-designed transportation infrastructure projects from planning through design and construction.
* Coordinate multi-departmental project teams, including Real Estate, Utilities, and Construction.
* Develop scopes of work, manage contracts, review invoices, and oversee consultant performance.
* Serve as the primary liaison to the public, property owners, media, and other stakeholders.
* Monitor project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure timely and cost-effective outcomes.
* Prepare and review cost estimates and technical documentation.
* Coordinate with state and federal agencies on projects with alternative funding sources.
* Support public engagement and represent the City at community meetings and events.
* Perform special assignments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*** Strong project management and organizational skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
* Ability to interpret and apply engineering principles throughout the project lifecycle
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); experience with project management tools is a plus
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
* Knowledge of transportation engineering standards and practices
*
* Preferred Qualifications:
*** 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, including geometric roadway and storm drainage design.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
*
* Minimum Qualifications:
*** Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
* At least 3 years of relevant experience in civil engineering or municipal Capital Investment projects.
** CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
