Senior Mechanical Engineer – Heat & Mass Balance

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – Heat & Mass Balance to support power and industrial projects through detailed mechanical engineering and technical leadership. This role will serve as the Heat and Mass Balance (HMB) Lead for Combined Cycle Power projects and will contribute to early-phase project development, equipment specification, proposal support, and technical evaluations.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work within a design office environment, performing complex engineering and design tasks with minimal supervision while exercising sound engineering judgment and leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as Heat and Mass Balance (HMB) Lead for Combined Cycle Power projects.
- Develop and maintain Heat and Mass Balance models and documentation.
- Provide technical leadership during early project development phases, including scope definition.
- Interface directly with Owners/Clients to define project scope and develop proposal work packages.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and procurement teams to prepare equipment inquiry and RFQ packages.
- Perform technical bid evaluations and develop equipment recommendations.
- Review vendor drawings and data for compliance with project specifications and applicable industry standards.
- Develop job notes and detailed technical scopes of work.
- Prepare man-hour estimates to support proposals and project planning.
- Participate in client, vendor, and internal project meetings.
- Present technical information to peers and stakeholders to support reviews, procedures, and issue resolution.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, making minor adaptations as required.
- Provide discipline‑specific technical expertise, including mentoring and training engineers and technical staff.
- May supervise, coordinate, and review the work of engineers or technicians on assigned projects.
- As a Licensed Professional Engineer (if applicable), seal and sign engineering documents produced under direct responsibility.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of engineering experience in one or more of the following industries:
- Power Generation
- Oil & Energy
- Chemical
- Food & Beverage
- Pharmaceutical
- Diversified Industrial
- Demonstrated expertise in Heat and Mass Balance development for Combined Cycle Power projects.
- Strong understanding of performance guarantees, including emissions compliance.
- Experience specifying fixed and rotating equipment, including CTGs, STGs, and HRSGs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clients early in the project lifecycle.
- Ability to maintain compliance with drug and/or alcohol testing consortium requirements.
- Ability to comply with applicable site‑specific safety, health, and vaccination requirements.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience working within the EPC Power environment.
- Proficiency with the Thermoflow software suite for HMB development and Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimates.
