Contractor Work Model:

System One is seeking a Senior Procurement Engineer to support one of our largest nuclear clients on-site in New Jersey. This role will be responsible for leading procurement engineering efforts for nuclear equipment, materials, and services while ensuring alignment with industry regulations and internal standards. The Senior Procurement Engineer will partner closely with engineering and operations teams to define technical requirements, evaluate vendor capabilities, and support compliant, cost effective procurement decisions.
They will help maintain a qualified supplier base, conduct technical reviews, and contribute to the prevention of supply chain disruptions. The ideal candidate brings strong nuclear industry experience, and the ability to interpret technical drawings, throughout a variety of design software suites.
- Represent our client with a strong nuclear safety culture.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for nuclear equipment, materials, and services to ensure full alignment with regulatory standards and internal quality expectations.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and technical teams to prioritize procurement needs and establish accurate technical specifications for nuclear related purchases.
- Conduct thorough technical evaluations of vendor proposals and bids to verify compliance with nuclear requirements and company performance standards.
- Maintain productive relationships with nuclear qualified vendors and suppliers to ensure reliable delivery of approved, high quality products and services.
- Ensure adherence to nuclear industry regulations, corporate policies, and technical criteria across all procurement activities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.)
- 5+ years of experience within the nuclear industry
- Experience with procurement software, such as ERP and e-procurement platforms (i.e., SAP or Maximo)
- Ability to interpret and review technical drawings such as As-Built’s (down to the component or system level), Equipment Drawings, Equipment Lay-out drawings, P&’s, etc.
- Good Communication & Ability/Interest to be customer facing
- Experience with Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD), Item Equivalency Evaluation (IEE)
- Certifications desired but not required such as:
- • Professional Engineer (PE)
- • Project Management Professional (PMP)
