Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for supporting preconstruction and estimating efforts for building automation and HVAC controls projects. This role prepares take‑offs, reviews plans and specifications, evaluates subcontractor proposals, and assists project teams with technical support to ensure accurate, competitive, and complete project estimates.

Pay Range

$80k-$100k per year

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed quantity take‑offs for HVAC and controls systems.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and construction plans to develop accurate estimates.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals; prepare bid packages and scopes of work.
  • Assist with pricing strategies, proposal development, and equipment submittals.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to develop technical solutions and project approaches.
  • Support project managers and account managers with technical information and system insights.
  • Identify project requirements, constraints, and system integration needs.
  • Contribute to schedule development and project fulfillment planning.
  • Review contract terms using standard templates when applicable.
  • Participate in resolving deviations from project scope after validation.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to sit, work at a computer, walk short distances, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to pass random drug testing.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 (based on experience)
  • Full benefits package typically includes health insurance, PTO, holidays, and retirement options (customize as needed).
