Field/Service Technician, Civil Engineering

Purpose of the RoleThis entry-level position serves as an introduction to the engineering field within Asplundh Engineering Services, with opportunities for professional growth and advancement. The primary focus of this role involves field inspections of utility poles-evaluating structural integrity, documenting findings, and maintaining compliance with company safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct full inspections of utility poles, including:
- Taking detailed photographs
- Completing inspection forms and documentation accurately
- Testing and assessing safety and structural integrity
- Produce technical reports, correspondence, and calculations under supervision.
- Maintain accurate records and files for all inspections and communications.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism, safety, and customer relations.
- Assist with planning, data collection, and other engineering-related field tasks.
- Strive to complete a targeted number of inspections daily while meeting quality standards.
- Technical Competence:
Basic understanding of field engineering tasks; ability to apply technical reasoning to solve problems. - Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication; capable of preparing clear and detailed reports. - Technology
Skills:- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience or familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Micro Station) is a plus but not required.
- Organization:
Capable of maintaining well-organized documentation and schedules. - Teamwork:
Builds positive relationships with coworkers and clients.
- Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance.
- Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently under limited supervision.
- Willingness to work in outdoor conditions (field environment).
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
