Step into Your New RoleKleinfelder is currently seeking a Staff Geotechnical Professional to join our team in either Raleigh, Greensboro or Charlotte.
The right candidate for this opportunity will be self‑motivated and have 4‑6 years of geotechnical engineering or geology experience.
In this position you will assist the Project Engineers/Project Managers and participate in execution of field investigation and potential construction oversight. This position will also assist with review and compilation of geotechnical laboratory and field‑testing results, perform geotechnical analyses and report writing.
Responsibilities- Assist the Project Engineers/Project Managers and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance.
- Coordinate with drilling contractors, supervise drilling and geotechnical field investigations, log borings and test pits.
- Assist with lab testing assignments, compilation of lab and field testing results.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under supervision including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, and geologic hazard evaluation.
- Assist the Project Engineers/Managers and prepare geotechnical reports.
- Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors.
- Requires 60% to 70% travel.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering, or Geology.
- MS Geotechnical Engineering/Geology is a plus.
