Project Controls Specialist – Field Scheduling/Project Controls (Contract)
Employment Type: Approx. 24-Month Contract Assignment
Location: Charlotte, NC (Metro Area) with travel across NC/SC
Summary Of Role
Seeking a Project Controls Specialist with deep field scheduling expertise to support capital projects across multiple sites in the Carolinas. This role provides advanced project controls support with emphasis on Primavera P6 schedule development, field progress validation, integrated schedule maintenance, variance tracking, and project reporting. The position serves as a subject matter expert for scheduling and project controls and supports Project Managers/Directors across complex project portfolios.
Key Responsibilities- Lead development and maintenance of integrated site schedules in P6, incorporating vendor input, site activities, and execution plan details
- Conduct regular site visits to observe progress, validate quantities, verify schedule updates, and assess contractor performance
- Analyze baseline schedules, schedule variances, recovery plans, and change impacts
- Review and integrate vendor implementation schedules into portfolio schedules
- Perform schedule adherence reporting and assist with funding and status reporting deliverables
- Support development of change orders and schedule impacts for project change requests
- Prepare project controls data, analytics, and presentation-quality reports for project and leadership audiences
- Monitor and maintain project controls systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise policies and standards
- Contribute to forecasting, cost/schedule performance dialogs, and trend analysis across multiple active projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, Technical field, or equivalent
- Minimum 9 years of project controls experience, or 11+ years without a degree
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, or related field
- Demonstrated expertise with Primavera P6 for field scheduling, baseline development, integration, and variance analysis
- PMI or AACE certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, CCC, PSP, CEP, EVP)
- Experience evaluating vendor schedule updates, change orders, and time-impact analyses
- Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office Suite, advanced Excel, and schedule analytics tools (e.g., Deltek Acumen)
- Ability to independently lead complex scheduling assignments and collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams
- Strong written/oral communication skills and experience producing executive-level reporting
