Environmental Health & Safety Professional

Overview

My client is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) professional to support environmental projects through proactive safety leadership, field audits, and program development. This role partners closely with project teams and subcontractors to promote safe work practices, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with applicable health and safety requirements. This position will be mentored by the EHS Department Head and will be supporting my clients in house Health and Safety Programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct health and safety audits and reviews at environmental project sites to identify hazards and verify compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare site‑specific Health & Safety Plans (HASPs) tailored to project scope and site conditions.
  • Develop Job Safety Analysis (JSA) forms to support safe execution of field activities.
  • Investigate incidents and near‑misses, manage required reporting, and track corrective actions through closure.
  • Recommend processes, controls, and procedures to reduce workplace hazards and improve overall safety performance.
  • Review, update, and continuously improve safety standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Train staff on company safety programs, HASPs, JSAs, and safe work practices through effective in‑person and group presentations.
  • Oversee subcontractor safety onboarding and manage third‑party health and safety reporting requirements.
Minimum Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental health and safety or a closely related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Safety Management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to assess field conditions and recommend practical safety solutions.
  • Excellent technical writing skills, including experience developing HASPs, JSAs, and SOPs.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to present safety topics to groups and lead trainings.
