Systems Engineer
Kinetic provides high-speed broadband Internet, phone service, and Digital TV packages to residential customers as well as products and services for small, medium, and large businesses, and government agencies.
The Sales Engineer - MDU will serve as the technical subject matter expert supporting our Multifamily (MDU) sales organization. This role bridges technical design and sales strategy, partnering with property owners, developers, and internal stakeholders to deliver fiber-based solutions that meet the unique needs of multifamily communities. The Sales Engineer will support the full sales lifecycle from pre‑sales discovery and solution design to post‑sale handoff, ensuring our customers receive a seamless, professional experience.
This individual plays a critical role in scaling our MDU program, enabling growth, and helping expand our footprint in the multifamily market.
- Partner with MDU Business Development team to understand customer needs, evaluate building infrastructure, and recommend fiber and broadband solutions.
- Conduct technical assessments for existing and new MDU properties, including inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) requirements.
- Participate in customer meetings, property walkthroughs, and RFP responses as the technical advocate.
- Collaborate with Construction, Network Engineering, Field Operations, and Project Management to validate feasibility and timelines.
- Support contract negotiations by providing technical requirements and scope definitions.
- Assist in resolving technical concerns during pre‑sale and post‑sale stages.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure design accuracy, installation readiness, and post‑install quality.
- Provide feedback to product and engineering teams to enhance MDU offerings and processes.
- Provide technical training and resources to the MDU sales team.
- Build and maintain collaborative working relationships through daily engagement with cross‑functional teams at all organizational levels.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry technologies, standards and best practices.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- 5+ years of experience in telecom, broadband, fiber networks, or related engineering/sales engineering roles.
- Strong knowledge of fiber principles, Ethernet, Wi‑Fi infrastructure, and broadband network architecture.
- Experience working in the MDU market or with building developers/owners preferred.
- Experience with fiber to the unit (FTTU) deployments.
- Prior experience supporting a sales organization or working in a customer facing technical role.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and building layouts.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions simply and effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Be willing and able to travel within an assigned territorial geography up to 25% of the time.
