Overview
Farnsworth Group is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to manage environmental compliance services across energy, utilities, telecom, renewable and oil & gas projects. The role requires collaboration with engineering, regulatory agencies and clients, with occasional travel.
Responsibilities- Providing leadership to support environmental compliance services on various energy and utilities projects including telecom, renewable, and oil & gas projects.
- Managing projects, tasks and staff to support environmental compliance needs of our clients and engineering project managers.
- Supervising, training and mentoring of less experienced team members.
- Prioritizing and delegating project responsibilities while considering development of less experienced team members.
- Supporting field investigations to delineate and map wetlands, perform environmental compliance inspections, describe habitat, and report environmental conditions to design engineers.
- Researching and completing environmental permitting at the federal, state and local levels.
- Composing, reviewing and submitting a variety of regulatory documents including Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Best Management Practice (BMP) Plans.
- Cultivating strong client relationships.
- Working with project teams, technical staff and subcontractors.
- BS (MS preferred) in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of related environmental project management experience.
- Experience collecting GPS data and creating maps in ArcGIS Pro.
- Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, etc.) and ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation and presentation capabilities.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to travel on short notice.
