Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of systems, including detailed troubleshooting.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through direct on-site customer interface.
  • Mentor control technicians, service technicians, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities.
  • Complete required project and service documentation properly.
  • Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
Duties
  • Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions, requiring extensive knowledge of electronic/digital controls and ability to test/write modifications in multiple system software languages.
  • Consult with customers using data gathered and site assessments.
  • Provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements to existing equipment.
  • Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction.
  • Report problems or changes to management immediately.
  • Interface with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required ethically and professionally.
  • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.
  • Assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
  • Install and modify software and graphics.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Meet regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems.
  • Keep customers informed on the service provided, outstanding issues, and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and replacement.
  • Promote the sale of add-on work.
  • Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards.
  • Provide safety leadership and instruction to all control technicians.
  • Provide safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors.
  • Train the customer in control systems operations.
  • Deliver manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
  • Provide mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems.
  • Coach, support, and train the technical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment.
  • Compile job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
  • Conduct extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines.
  • Complete certifications as required by the company.
  • Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by contract documents.
  • Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
  • Assist in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements' intent.
  • Compile and/or complete project as-built and close-out documentation.
  • Assist in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
  • Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assignment.
  • Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required.
  • Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • May provide field change information to the project team for creation of as-built drawings and software.
  • Keep management and contractors informed of job progress and issues.
  • Assist in performing site-specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
  • Participate in release meeting with project field team.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
