Senior Engineering Technician (Geotechnical/Construction Quality Assurance)

NV5 is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician for our Charlotte, NC location, also open to those in Fayetteville, NC;
Rocky Mount, NC; and Burlington, NC. Responsibilities include monitoring activities on construction sites and performing testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt pavement materials. A company truck, phone, and safety equipment will be provided at our office.

• Performs In-Place Density Tests using nuclear density gauge, drive sleeve, or sand cone method.
• Aggregate Sampling. Concrete/Grout/Masonry sampling (including air content; slump testing; visual observations; casting samples of concrete cylinders, mortar cubes, and grout prisms; and obtaining core samples).
• May perform asphalt sampling, backscatter tests, and coring.
• Work subject to outside environmental conditions, including weather such as wet, humid, extreme cold, heat, dusty, and noisy work environments.
• Work primarily in the field involving long‑term standing and frequent walking; includes common hazards at construction and project sites.
• Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 10 hours a day occasionally.
• Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel and twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
• Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
• Additional physical duties may be required, as necessary.

• Minimum 2 years experience.
• Basic math and writing skills.
• Strong work ethic.
• Team player.
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is required.
• Offer is contingent on background report.
• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
