WhatYou'll Do:
- Lead and direct a survey crew of two or more team members on a variety of field assignments
- Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, construction staking, and other survey types
- Operate survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, and levels
- Ensure accuracy and quality of field data, notes, and sketches
- Make field decisions and provide direction to crew members to ensure efficient project execution
- Coordinate daily with project managers and office staff to meet project scope, schedule, and quality goals
- Maintain and transport survey equipment safely and ensure proper operation in the field
- Communicate project status and field updates regularly
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief preferred
- Prior experience conducting boundary and topographic surveys required
- Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction staking, and Carlson SurvCE preferred
- Working knowledge of data collectors, robotic total stations, GPS equipment, and digital levels
- Valid driver's license required (this position requires driving)
- Strong math skills and attention to detail
- Experience preparing detailed field notes and sketches
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday–Thursday 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with occasional overnight travel
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and outdoor environments
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to climb hills and walk long distances across varied terrain
- Ability to traverse wooded areas, construction sites, and undeveloped land
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work in environments that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, and yellow jackets
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
