Provides technical leadership for the College's building systems, energy management, and sustainability initiatives, ensuring that all facilities infrastructure operates efficiently, safely, and in alignment with institutional standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Reviews and validates mechanical construction documents, system designs and modifications, and ensures facilities systems operate efficiently and meet institutional standards.Provides building systems technical troubleshooting and subject matter expertise; serves as the College's authority for complex building system issues escalated from coordinators.Provides oversight of the retro commissioning program for systematic re-evaluation of building systems to optimize performance and energy use.Develops facilities systems design and configuration strategies for optimal performance and coordinates with Planning, Design and Construction and Facilities Operations for execution of those strategies.Evaluates plant operations and identifies opportunities for improvement.Monitors and manages energy consumption and allocation across all College facilities; analyzes system performance to identify opportunities for energy reduction, cost savings, and operational efficiency.Leads and manages institutional sustainability initiatives including recycling programs, environmental compliance efforts, sustainability planning and reporting.Ensures compliance with energy and environmental regulations and international standards (LEED, ISO, or similar frameworks).Provides input into budget development for utilities and infrastructure; develops energy cost analysis and consumption forecasts to support financial planning.Develops and maintains KPIs for energy and infrastructure performance; leads operating procedure drafting and reporting and leads continuous improvement initiatives.Performs other duties as assigned.Other
Duties and Responsibilities:Identifies energy savings opportunities and leads development and implementation of energy conservation strategies.Maintains energy performance dashboards and metrics; establishes and reports KPIs for energy and infrastructure performance.Serves as liaison to internal and external sustainability partners including STEM programs and sustainability organizations.Maintains sustainability communications including web and media content.Maintains documentation required for energy and environmental compliance and audit preparation; develops and supports policies related to sustainability and energy use.Identifies and secures utility rebates and incentives related to construction and renovation projects.Provides technical input for project cost estimating and scope development.Conducts field inspections of contractor work to ensure quality and compliance; prepares photo-documented inspection reports.Provides subject matter expertise in RFP development and contract negotiations.Evaluates CFMC contract performance; reviews contractor performance, invoices, and technical deliverables.Reviews and approves service provider invoices.Prepares department reports and dashboards.Supports hiring, evaluation, and development of assigned staff; coordinates staff training related to systems, sustainability, and compliance.Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures.Supports cross-departmental project initiatives.Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; and five (5) years of experience in facilities engineering, energy management, or building systems, including experience working with mechanical systems and building automation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:- Professional Engineer (PE)
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- LEED AP
- Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
- Asset Management Professional (AMP) or equivalent credential.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation systems, and energy management practices
- Ability to review and interpret construction documents and technical specifications
- Strong ability to analyze energy data and system performance; experience developing metrics, KPIs, and dashboards
- Ability to translate technical findings into operational improvements
- Experience supporting both maintenance operations and capital projects
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong collaboration skills across departments and external partners
- Ability to influence without direct authority in cross-functional environments
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements
Working Conditions:Combination of office and field environment; moderate physical activity required, including walking campuses and inspecting facilities; regular site visits and inspections required.
