Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Fire & Life Safety Engineer will serve in a key role in providing and delivering fire & life safety design services, including active and passive fire and life safety systems; code consulting; life safety and egress evaluations; performance based design; fire/smoke/egress modeling; inspection and plan review; hazard and risk analysis; emergency management and planning; structural fire protection; fire root cause analysis;
and accessibility consulting. HDR's Fire & Life Safety Engineer will also: prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget; review submittals and contract documents and respond to Requests for Information; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
- Master's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering and 2 years of experience in fire protection design or a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in fire protection design.
- Required experience may include professional or internship experience and must include experience in: fire protection design; testing and commissioning of fire protection systems; fire protection system inspection and maintenance; hazard and risk analysis; building code analysis; shop drawing review; and Request for Information (RFI) response.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position. Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates.
