Farnsworth Group is seeking a Sr. Environmental Scientist in the following locations:
Lisle, IL, Dallas, TX, Charlotte, NC. In this role, you will collaborate with experienced environmental professionals, licensed engineers, architects, surveyors, GIS/CAD technicians, and project managers to deliver environmental compliance services for energy and utilities projects. You will lead site reviews with regulatory agencies and clients, support field investigations, and research permitting requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide leadership for environmental compliance services on energy, utilities, telecom, renewable, and oil & gas projects.
  • Manage projects, tasks, and staff to meet client and engineering project manager needs.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Prioritize and delegate project responsibilities while fostering team development.
  • Prepare proposals and estimate project budgets.
  • Support field investigations, delineate and map wetlands, perform compliance inspections, describe habitat, and report findings to design engineers.
  • Research and complete environmental permitting at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Compose, review, and submit regulatory documents such as SPCC Plans, SWPPP, and BMP Plans.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships.
  • Collaborate with project teams, technical staff, and subcontractors.
What You’ll Need
  • BS (MS preferred) in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Natural Resources, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of related environmental project management experience.
  • Experience collecting GPS data and creating maps in ArcGIS Pro.
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, etc.).
  • Strong team player able to manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation abilities.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel on short notice.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Salary Range: Salary to be determined by education, experience, KSA, and internal/external equity.
