As the Senior Project Manager – Healthcare + Education, you'll lead the planning design, permitting and delivery of complex site/civil projects across the Charlotte region and greater Carolina's market. Your role will blend technical expertise, strategic vision, and client engagement to expand our presence in healthcare and education sectors, ensuring consistent excellence in project execution.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, a mentor to staff, and a visible representative of the firm within the Charlotte healthcare and institutional development community.

In this role, you will partner with architects and design teams to see projects from concept to construction. You will leverage established relationships and build new ones to drive pursuits, expand opportunities, and deliver solutions that align teams around shared goals. The role directly helps shape strategy, influence market direction, and expand capabilities across the Carolinas, all supported by a collaborative leadership team and a strong platform for long-term career development.

What You'll Do

  • Direct healthcare-focused civil engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, healthcare codes and client expectations
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand the firm's healthcare market presence, leveraging industry knowledge, market trends, and client/architect relationships
  • Partner with architects, healthcare administrators, mechanical engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver facilities that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and sustainability
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, staffing, and quality control to deliver successful outcomes on time and within scope
  • Lead an engineering team to execute healthcare projects, fostering professional growth and technical excellence
  • Lead permitting efforts, working with local agencies and municipalities to ensure timely approvals and compliance with applicable regulations. Address agency comments and facilitate site permitting processes.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal disciplines, technical specialists, and subconsultants to deliver quality outcomes. Represent the firm at conferences, client meetings, and community engagements to strengthen partnerships, visibility, and thought leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and healthcare facility standards.

What You'll Bring

  • Four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field required
  • EI required; PE or on track to obtaining PE strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of civil engineering experience with significant exposure to healthcare or campus projects
  • Proven track record managing complex, multidisciplinary projects and leading diverse teams.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare facility design standards, site development, utilities, stormwater management, and environmental considerations
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills to engage stakeholders and build trust.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary architect teams, including building and site mechanical engineers.
  • Experience in various project delivery models including traditional design-bid-build, design-build, CMAR, etc.
  • Ability to identify market opportunities, develop business strategies, and contribute to firm-wide growth initiatives.
