We are seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with experience supporting Power Generation and Heavy Industrial Projects in our Mt. Laurel, NJ or Charlotte, NC offices. The successful candidate will have experience in mechanical system design and plant modification for major power generation projects, including conventional and/or nuclear, from conception through construction, start-up and commissioning.
The successful candidate can look forward to projects including new build simple and combined cycle powerplants, nuclear projects, and plant retrofits throughout the United States that require all facets of mechanical engineering and design.
What You’ll Do Here:- Perform equipment sizing, pipe sizing, piping pressure loss calculations to support the development of piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) and procurement specifications.
- Support the development of engineering drawings such equipment arrangement, piping orthographic and isometric drawings.
- Develop and maintain engineering lists such as equipment, line, valve and in‑line devices.
- Develop material and workhour estimates as needed to support proposal development.
- Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).
- 8 years of experience with the design of mechanical water, steam, air, gas and oil systems for power generation projects.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in any state within the US, and the ability to obtain additional licenses through comity would be considered an asset.
- Strong computer analysis skills.
- Able to perform in a fast‑paced environment.
- Great problem solving, planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work with timelines.
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
Pay and BenefitsPay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
