Role description
Arcadis is seeking a CAD Design Lead to join our Resilience Water Team in either Greensboro, Raleigh, Cary, or Charlotte, North Carolina! This is an exciting opportunity for a self‑motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified consulting firms in the country. The CAD Design Lead will oversee and create civil design drawings for a variety of water, wastewater, stormwater, and site civil projects.
These may include stream restoration, pipe extensions, site layouts, force mains, pump stations, lift stations and more. This role involves preparing detailed plans and drawings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, leading and mentoring junior drafters, and ensuring the successful execution of projects.
- Prepare detailed civil designs and technical drawings using CAD software, such as AutoCAD Civil3D, for drafting and design tasks for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and drafting team members to transform conceptual ideas into professional‑grade technical plans.
- Assist with design oversight, ensuring designs comply with project specifications and timelines.
- Conduct quality control checks on plans and drawings to confirm completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders throughout the design process.
- Mentor junior drafters by guiding them in setting up design files and supporting them in successfully completing engineering design tasks.
Required:
8 years of experience in civil drafting or design in either water, wastewater, stormwater, and/or site civil infrastructure projects.
- Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Computer‑Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with pipe networks, AutoCAD Civil3D, and grading.
- Certification in CAD or civil design software a plus.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80,000–$130,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
