Aboutthe Role
Our client is seeking a System Engineer to support the technical design, modeling, integration, and execution of utility‑scale battery energy storage projects. This individual will be responsible for developing technical requirements and specifications, supporting interconnection and modeling efforts, and ensuring successful integration and commissioning of energy storage systems.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle while supporting the deployment of some of the industry's most innovative energy storage projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop technical requirements, specifications, and system architecture for energy storage projects.
- Manage and qualify major equipment vendors, including battery and power conversion system (PCS) suppliers.
- Lead engineering efforts related to energy storage system modeling, interconnection applications, and project development.
- Integrate battery systems, PCS equipment, transformers, switch gear, and other LV/MV equipment into complete energy storage solutions.
- Support software and controls configuration to ensure proper system functionality and project performance.
- Lead design engineering, project execution, commissioning, and technical troubleshooting activities.
- Coordinate with internal teams, customers, EPCs, and equipment suppliers throughout project delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of engineering or technical project management experience.
- Experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, including design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Background in utility-scale battery energy storage, solar, wind, or related power generation technologies.
- Understanding of energy storage system modeling, interconnection processes, and power system studies.
- Knowledge of three-phase power systems, protection schemes, voltage/frequency regulation, and grid stability concepts.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and controls integration.
- Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Approximately 25% travel required to support project commissioning and execution activities.
