The Roadway Design Project Manager will work under the Roadway Design Manager to provide designs, management, and execution of roadway engineering projects. S/he will be responsible for managing project budgets and deadlines and for providing Quality Control efforts. Additionally, the Project Manager will support business development efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide project management including planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating design projects to ensure company objectives are met
  • Over see and participates in the preparation of design drawings in accordance with various federal, state, and municipal standards governing the design of roadway engineering projects
  • Provide design guidance to production staff and QA/QC
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable (LMA) project engineers
  • Prepare drawings using Micro Station/GEOPAK, AutoTURN, and/or similar type software. Open Roads Designer experience is a plus
  • Oversees quantities and cost-estimating efforts
  • Involved with project administrative activities including proposal preparation, monthly billing, billing projections, etc.
  • Assists with project pursuits in providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings
Qualifications
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering from an accredited university
  • Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering is a plus
  • Possess Professional Engineering license (in, or ability to obtain in, NC and/or VA, SC)
  • Have 5+ years of transportation engineering experience
  • Have experience working with state and local public agencies
  • Possess strong analytical, decision-making, organizational, and time management skills
  • Use strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Micro Station and/or AutoCAD engineering software packages standard in the industry
