Job Overview

Bolton & Menk has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer, PE to join our Water Resources team. This role offers the chance to work with a talented, collaborative group of professionals and make a lasting impact on the communities we serve. With over 75 years of experience, Bolton & Menk specializes in providing community infrastructure solutions throughout the Southeast, Midwest, and beyond.

As a Water Resources Project Engineer, you will support project managers in the design and construction phases of municipal stormwater capital improvement projects, stream and wetland restoration, dam rehabilitation and removal, and comprehensive watershed studies. The primary focus of this position is technical water‑resources engineering—including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater system design, restoration design, and plan development—to protect infrastructure, enhance natural systems, and improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Perform detailed design computations.
  • Conduct preliminary layout, modeling, and design.
  • Research and prepare rough drafts of preliminary reports and feasibility studies.
  • Assist with project design and preparation of plans and specifications, and prepare cost and quantity take‑off estimates.
  • Assist with plan reviews, storm‑water pollution prevention plans, design of storm‑water facilities, storm‑water detention and retention design, water‑quality design, and storm‑water management planning.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, or Biosystems Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
  • 5‑10 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, including hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
  • Experience in plan and specification development with construction contract administration.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Microstation, GeoPAK Drainage, HydroCAD, P8, and GIS.
