Planning Engineer - Onsite

10 is currently seeking a Planning Engineer - Onsite position with a Major Telecommunications Company located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

As a Planning Engineer, your responsibilities will include managing network elements for voice and data networks and monitoring and evaluating capacity utilization. The primary focus will be on the documentation of GPON and XGS-PON existing and planned activity, including creating Visio diagrams. This position requires limited direction and guidance.

Responsibilities:

• Manage network elements for voice and data networks
• Monitor and evaluate capacity utilization for networks
• Submit capacity triggers as necessary
• Forecast and trend bandwidth growth to produce capacity triggers for bandwidth relief
• Develop plans to augment capacity relief as needed
• Document GPON & XGS-PON existing and planned activity including Visio diagrams
• Trigger projects utilizing the most feasible, practical and economical means
• Perform engineering work and applied research, development and design of new projects
• Analyze complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment
• Handle moderately complex engineering assignments
• Resolve difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms
• Support acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services
• May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower level employees

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
• 4+ years of related experience in telecommunications Engineering or Planning (OSP/ISP/Access)
• Ability to communicate fluently with technical individuals from Engineering, Sales and Operations

Desired skills:

• Previous experience with telecommunication planning/engineering software systems
• Edge, Access or OSP Planning experience

Pay range: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
