Senior Principal Electrical Engineer
Aspen Technical Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Electrical Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our client. This is a leadership position responsible for providing technical expertise, project leadership, and engineering support on complex industrial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary project efforts while ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with applicable engineering standards.
Responsibilities- Lead and deliver electrical engineering services for projects from concept through commissioning.
- Manage electrical engineering scope, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
- Serve as the Electrical Engineering Lead on assigned projects.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Ensure project scope is clearly defined and manage engineering changes through established change management processes.
- Support procurement activities by preparing equipment requisitions, reviewing vendor proposals, conducting technical bid evaluations, and developing purchase recommendations.
- Provide engineering support during construction, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Develop project execution plans, assign work, and supervise engineering staff when leading project teams.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Resolve technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Maintain compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, engineering practices, and industry standards.
- Assist with project estimates, proposal development, and technical presentations when required.
- Serve as a technical resource for clients and project teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering within industrial, power, energy, manufacturing, chemical, or similar process industries.
- Proven experience leading engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, distribution, equipment selection, and design principles.
- Experience developing project cost estimates and supporting proposal preparation.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Proficiency with electrical engineering software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience leading large, complex engineering projects.
- Experience working in EPC or consulting engineering environments.
- Strong technical leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with clients and project teams.
- Commitment to engineering excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.
