Contract Planning Engineer

The team is looking for a Contract Planning Engineer to support our team! As a Planning Engineer your responsibilities will include managing network elements for voice and data networks and monitoring and evaluating capacity utilization for these networks. You will also submit capacity triggers as necessary and forecast and trend bandwidth growth to produce capacity triggers for bandwidth relief. In addition, you will develop plans to augment capacity relief as needed.

Position requires limited direction and guidance.

• Documentation of GPON & XGS-PON Existing and Planned activity including Visio diagrams
• Triggering projects utilizing the most feasible, practical and economical means
• Performing engineering work and applied research, development and design of new projects, including design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of equipment and devices
• Analyzing complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices
• Handling moderately complex engineering assignments
• Resolving difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including e‑mail, file transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like
• Support of acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services
• May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower level employees

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience
• 4+ years of related experience in telecommunications Engineering or Planning (OSP/ISP/Access)
• Ability to communicate fluently with technical individuals from Engineering, Sales and Operations
• Nice to Have:
  Previous Experience with same organization or Lumen Planning/Engineering Software Systems. Edge, Access or OSP Planning experience
