Staff Geotechnical Professional

Location:

Raleigh, North Carolina or Charlotte, North Carolina

We are seeking an experienced geotechnical professional to assist our Project Engineers and Project Managers in field investigations, laboratory testing, and design services. This role requires 4–8 years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and a willingness to travel 60–70% of the time.

• Assist with field investigations, including boring layout, utility clearance, and supervision of drilling and geotechnical field investigations.
• Coordinate with drilling contractors and log borings and test pits.
• Manage lab testing assignments and compile laboratory and field testing results.
• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses under supervision, such as soil/rock classification, slope stability, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement calculations, ground improvement, and geologic hazard evaluation.
• Prepare geotechnical reports for project teams.

• Positive work attitude, ability to work safely and efficiently, and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors.
• 60–70% travel required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, Mining Engineering, or Geology.
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Geology is a plus.
