Job DescriptionAs our new Senior Fire Protection Engineer in the Advanced Manufacturing Division of Ramboll.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Develop designs for fire suppression, detection, and signaling systems in accordance with applicable governing codes and standards and industry best practices for industrial facilities.
- Develop performance based design specifications utilizing fire protection engineering principles, code analyses, coordination with authorities having jurisdiction, and other resources as required for the specific application.
- Participate in up-front conceptual design studies with the development of fire suppression design criteria, specifications, preliminary layouts, and code reviews.
- Develop performance based fire suppression and detection specifications for unique and hazardous occupancies often found in manufacturing facilities.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to achieve fully integrated designs between life safety, building services, and industrial processes as required to comply with all applicable codes and standards.
- Participate in post design activities including review shop drawings, permitting assistance, and construction support.
- Evaluate fire suppression, detection, and alarm systems in existing buildings.
- Assist with development of hazardous materials assessments for storage and processing facilities.
- Develop written technical reports detailing fire protection related code summaries, design basis, project implications, and other technical recommendations to support project work.
- Participate in project meetings during all phases of the project lifecycle, from conceptual study to construction assistance record drawing creation.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in specification and design of fire protection systems
- Extensive knowledge of NFPA codes, International Fire Code, and International Building Code
- Licensure as a Professional Fire Protection Engineer is required.
- Ability to foster a creative engineering environment
- Strong communication skills, (both in written and verbal)
- Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation reasonably expected to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
