Position: Biomedical Engineering Intern — Hospital Tech & PM Training (DoD)

About the Position

Position:
Biomedical Engineering Intern – partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense. This role is open only to current active duty U.S. Armed Forces members.

Responsibilities
  • Shadow experienced clinical, biomedical, lab, and radiology engineers under close supervision.
  • Understand the typical day of an engineer and how to work in a hospital environment.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Balance workload, document repairs, and complete preventive maintenance (PM) work orders.
  • Manage vendor relationships and calibrate equipment.
  • Apply troubleshooting techniques to various types of medical equipment.
  • Train on preventive maintenance procedures, electrical safety, and repair techniques.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures and inventory validation.
  • Work alongside experienced technicians in a real‑time service environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an associate’s or technical degree program, holding the TRIMEDX Trained Certification, or an equivalent biomedical‑related certification program.
  • Preferred experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to pass pre‑employment screening, including a limited background check and substance‑use screening.
  • Valid driver’s license required; variable travel may be required depending on the primary site or region and may involve personal vehicle use.
