A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Thermal Structural Engineer, you will apply your expertise in thermal‑structural modeling, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer to simulate and analyze gap requirements in large gas turbines, as well as evaluate overall engine thermal behavior. You’ll be part of a global engineering team supporting both new product development and service‑related initiatives.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, component engineers, and cross‑functional partners in manufacturing and service to deliver robust, high‑performance solutions.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Development/evolution/maintenance of whole engine computational models that simulate thermo‑mechanical behavior of components in gas turbines.
  • Simulate transient heating and expansion of the entire engine to determine optimal assembly gaps especially between rotating and stationary components.
  • Analyze simulation results and test data to derive design‑relevant conclusions.
  • Contribute to the conceptual design for gas turbines and evaluating operational data and findings from prototypes and the current fleet to support design improvements and reliability.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required;
    Master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 0–2+ years of relevant experience in gas turbines or cooling air systems preferred; candidates with greater experience may qualify for a more senior role.
  • Skilled at breaking down and solving complex technical challenges.
  • Hands‑on understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and mechanical or process engineering is a plus.
  • Experience with computational simulation tools, programming languages, and finite element analysis (FEA) software is a plus.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer‑sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
