A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Mechanical Design Engineer for Gas Turbine Components & Manufacturing at Siemens Energy, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative solutions for the stationary components of our gas turbines. Your day may begin by collaborating with cross‑functional teams to discuss design requirements and technical challenges. You will use your expertise in NX to create initial design concepts and support the detailed design process.
Throughout the day, you will perform thermal analysis, stress calculations, and lifetime assessments yourself or lead a team to do such analysis to ensure the reliability and performance of turbine casings. Your work will directly contribute to the successful development and operation of our advanced gas turbine products.
- Lead, design and develop turbine casings and other stationary components for large gas turbines, focusing on mechanical integrity, thermal performance, and durability.
- Create and modify 3D models and drawings using NX, supporting the design team with initial concepts and detailed designs.
- Perform or oversee thermal analysis, stress calculations, and lifetime assessments to ensure compliance with technical specifications and operational requirements.
- Support the manufacturability and serviceability of casing components by working with manufacturing and service teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within your turbine casing team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required;
Mechanical Engineering preferred but not required. - 3–5+ years of experience in the design and development of mechanical components, preferably within gas turbine engineering and/or manufacturing design environments. Candidates with additional experience may be considered for a more senior‑level position.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and design; experience with Siemens NX is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of thermal analysis, stress calculations, and mechanical component life assessment methodologies.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and manufacturing processes is highly preferred. Strong technical expertise in mechanical component design and development may be considered in lieu of direct manufacturing experience.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a solution‑oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively in international, cross‑functional, and multidisciplinary manufacturing environments.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer‑sponsored work authorization (visa sponsorship).
