HVAC Senior Engineer - Adv Manufacturing

Overview

Senior Mechanical-HVAC Engineer in the Advanced Manufacturing Division, Ramboll. This position is based in Charlotte, NC. The selected candidate will work across a wide range of mechanical engineering knowledge areas with a primary focus on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) related work.

• Perform design and engineering work across the mechanical discipline, with an emphasis on HVAC. Work may also include industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details for mechanical projects.
• Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for early project lifecycle stages.
• Create design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
• Conduct or participate in energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
• Assess and design building ventilation systems based on heat removal requirements and indoor air quality considerations.
• Perform spreadsheet analyses to evaluate energy savings and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
• Utilize building modeling software (e.g., HAP, Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess ECM savings potentials.
• Specify mechanical equipment and design plumbing and building utility piping systems.
• Summarize engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of high quality.
• Visit job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems; travel may include day trips and some overnight domestic trips.
• Adhere to Ramboll's Project Execution Manual policies and standards.
• Promote and maintain a safe working environment by following Ramboll's Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
• 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
• Licensed professional engineer strongly preferred.
• Ability to foster a creative engineering environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline.
• Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred.
