HDR is seeking an East Region Alternative Delivery Lead within the Power Sector, Power Delivery Practice to be part of our national Alternative Delivery (AD) Leadership Team. AD includes models such as Design-Build (DB)/Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC), Progressive Design-Build (PDB), Construction Manager-General Contractor (CMGC)/Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). This position works with HDR"s global power delivery staff and our construction partners to mitigate engineering risks on AD projects.

The primary duties include planning, pursuing, managing, and delivering all aspects of power delivery AD projects in electric transmission, substation, distribution, and renewables (medium/high voltage) markets.

• In collaboration with the Power Sector AD Director, provide leadership to elevate HDR's East Region power delivery AD program across a wide geography.
• Partner with business development, operations and technical leadership to develop new opportunities, markets and staffing plans.
• Coordinate with AD Director, operations and legal counsel to drive teaming agreement negotiations with construction partners aligned to HDR's goals.
• Lead development of a power delivery FEED team to evaluate and mitigate technical risk prior to and during Go/No-Go; FEED may include substation physical, substation electrical, transmission structural/foundation, distribution, and/or site civil practitioners.
• Review AD project intel, opportunities and RFPs with technical teams to estimate technical investments before Go/No-Go.
• Assist in Go/No-Go discussions, risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews, and negotiations as required.
• Work with pursuit teams to develop scope, schedule, and budget, focusing on AD-specific activities and risks (procurement, construction support, critical path scheduling, etc.).
• Provide AD best practice guidance to pursuit and project delivery teams.
• Collaborate with HDR regional and area operations leaders, market sector leaders, practice leaders, project managers, and teams to deliver high-quality engineering, environmental, real estate, geospatial and construction support for AD projects.
• Develop AD project teams including AD project managers, technical leaders, project controls and commercial managers; roles identified with AD leadership.
• Act as a senior advisor during AD project execution, providing contract administration and management support.
• Serve as Project Manager or Engineering Manager on select power delivery projects, including AD and traditional delivery models.
• Oversee a production section including project delivery, staffing, recruiting, quality, utilization, workload forecasting, work-sharing, safety and morale.
• Mentor and develop other employees.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Report to Power Sector Alternative Delivery Director.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of power delivery experience.
• Minimum 5 years building and/or managing engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Strong leadership and project management experience with multiple remote teams.
• Understanding of contractual risk and mitigation strategies in AD models.
• Proven experience managing projects, client relationships, proposal development, and business development.
• Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
• Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, Web Ex, Teams, etc.).
• Up to 30% travel.
• Professional Engineer licensure or DBIA certification is preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• 10 years related experience.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
• Ability to interact with design teams with strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
