Position Overview Our company is seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support Water and Industrial Water projects within the Government & Communities Market Sector. This role provides an opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on critical infrastructure projects involving site development, grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician will support the development of high-quality engineering deliverables by applying engineering principles and design practices to create and modify site development plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and related design technologies.
Key Responsibilities Support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables using CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling software. Apply engineering standards, document control procedures, codes, and company policies. Review project requirements and determine appropriate deliverable formats and content. Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and support continuous improvement initiatives. Review design inputs for consistency and compliance with project-specific codes and standards.
Develop moderately complex design concepts utilizing established engineering practices. Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to exchange project information and support design development. Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians as needed. Review deliverables prepared by others for quality and consistency. Assist with scheduling, assignment tracking, and project coordination. Support field activities and client-focused project execution when required.
Stay current on emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of related engineering technician, civil design, or drafting experience. Strong experience with Civil 3D grading design. Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D. Ability to develop and modify civil site design drawings and deliverables. Experience working with engineering standards, codes, and technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications Solar project experience.
Experience with PVcase and/or PV Farm software. Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology. Experience supporting water, industrial water, or infrastructure projects.
