Job Summary
Our client, a leading biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer with hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV to support manufacturing operations and capital projects within a GMP drug substance facility. This role is responsible for maintaining and optimizing DeltaV automation systems, supporting manufacturing operations, troubleshooting process control issues, and driving automation improvements while ensuring compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Emerson DeltaV DCS automation systems supporting GMP manufacturing.
- Provide day-to-day automation support to manufacturing operations and respond to system issues.
- Partner with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Validation teams to implement automation solutions.
- Support FAT, commissioning, qualification (IV/ACO), startup, and system integration activities.
- Investigate automation, instrumentation, and process control issues and implement corrective actions.
- Execute and support Change Controls, CAPAs, Deviations, and Root Cause Investigations.
- Develop and maintain automation documentation, SOPs, engineering standards, and Data Integrity assessments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of automation engineering experience within a GMP pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting Emerson DeltaV DCS.
- Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, startup, and manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, ASTM E2500, ISA-88, ISA-95, and Computerized Systems Validation (CSV).
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as OPC, Foundation Fieldbus, and Profibus.
- Strong understanding of process automation, instrumentation, and GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
