Marshall Air Systems is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. This position is responsible for designing and developing custom mechanical products and systems using CAD software while supporting projects from concept through manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical design experience, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer requirements.
This role requires the ability to create accurate engineering documentation, support manufacturing, assist with customer proposals, and ensure products are designed for quality, functionality, and manufacturability.
- Design new products and modify existing products using CAD software and engineering best practices.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, assembly drawings, layout drawings, and fabrication documentation.
- Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), checklists, owner manuals, and other product documentation.
- Develop innovative engineering solutions to meet customer specifications and application requirements.
- Assist in the development of new products from concept through fabrication, assembly, testing, final inspection, and production release.
- Work closely with Manufacturing to ensure products are built according to engineering specifications.
- Collaborate with Sales by providing technical support for customer quotations and proposals.
- Assist with engineering estimates, special projects, and product cost analysis.
- Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
- Ensure the accuracy of engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, specifications, and overall product fit and function.
- Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, production personnel, and internal departments.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively in a team environment.
- Maintain organized engineering files and documentation.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design engineering experience.
- Proficiency with CAD software and 3D modeling.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience creating engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience using Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with sheet metal design.
- Familiarity with electrical design concepts.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and customer requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Commitment to producing high-quality work and meeting project deadlines.
This position is based in a manufacturing environment with regular interaction between the engineering office and production floor. Occasional overtime may be required to support project deadlines and business needs.
