Full-time, permanent position Our team at The Recruiting Pros is conducting a search for a Mechanical Product Design Engineer (Product Engineer). In this role you will leverage your broad base of experience and ability to offer quality and operational support as you manage the full CAD design process using NX with Teamcenter PLM working for a high-end consumer products manufacturer.
You will design parts from concept through implementation using your knowledge of math and science to create innovative solutions to existing and new product development projects working with injection molded plastics, die castings, extrusions (plastic and metal), adhesives and fabrics. You will collaborate with product management, quality and tooling engineers as you work through the stage gate development process. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and eager to seek solutions with minimal oversight.
Routine responsibilities will require you to:
Clearly document and present complex engineering project information to internal stakeholders including operations, quality, product development, marketing, etc. Create new design or modification using NX CAD components/assemblies to meet the needs of the customer Use industry standard product development techniques to determine component and system performance Coordinate CAD drafting development and control of features critical to part fit, form and function Determine GD&T and tolerancing in coordination with individual suppliers Use analytical skills to develop comprehensive test plans Analyze cause and effect relationships involved with engineering design including root cause analysis, test planning, documentation and communication Determine justification and release of prototype/production/first article production tooling, including evaluations and modifications Create and maintain technical writings in manuals for component and/or system development/improvement Document engineering drawings and technical information in compliance with ISO procedures Required education and experience:
REQUIRED:
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
REQUIRED:
10+ years mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
REQUIRED:
Experience with plastic part design and mechanisms Previous experience with Siemens NX Unigraphics preferred Thorough knowledge of universal and standardized manufacturing test procedures along with mechanical dynamics and statics Working knowledge of plastic extrusion, metal stamping, die casting, roll forming and aluminum to design and develop small parts including mechanisms and gears Knowledge of injection molding with plastics, machine shop equipment including lathe and end mill Ability to use trigonometry and geometry to calculate the design and performance capability of components Solid knowledge of spatial reasoning in designing standalone components or those working in conjunction with other components.
Ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints and schematics
