What is the Opportunity?
Aecon Engineering Services Inc., the former United Engineers and Constructors, an Aecon Company, is seeking an Electrical Supervising Engineer with experience supporting Nuclear Power Plant modifications in the Charlotte, NC area. The successful candidate will manage the engineering and design efforts to modify and upgrade existing nuclear power plants. This could include general plant upgrades, component replacements, electric power uprates (EPU), among other types of plant enhancements.
The successful candidate will lead a team of Aecon (United) Electrical engineers and designers, providing continuous, on-site support at various nuclear plant sites in the North and South Carolina area. Work entails being technically responsible for the work performed by the discipline engineering team, developing and checking engineering modification packages, managing the discipline scope, schedule, budget and approval of project design documents.
What You'll Do Here:
- Lead and support electrical engineering design activities at a operating nuclear facility.
- Supervisory responsibilities include review of proposals, schedules and budgets; monitoring and reporting budget and schedule performance; and providing technical leadership to engineers and designers for the electrical discipline.
- Coordinate activities with clients, contractors, vendors and other members of the project teams.
- Prepare Engineering Change and Plant Modification packages including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schmatics, single line, and three line drawings for existing nuclear powerplants.
- Prepare specifications for major electrical and control equipment.
- Prepare AC and DC loading, short circuit, voltage drop, coordination and arc flash studies and calculations.
- Perform Digital Upgrade evaluations.
- Interface with equipment vendors, including providing oversight and review of project submittals such as drawings, O&M manuals and software.
- Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university. - Strong practical knowledge and experience working in Nuclear Operating Plants
- Professional Engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity.
- 8 years overall experience in the design of electrical systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
