This is an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who wants to take on meaningful technical and project responsibility while working on complex building projects from design through construction.
The position is open to Mechanical Engineers with 6+ years of building design experience, as well as experienced professionals with 8–10+ years who are ready to lead projects, serve as Engineer of Record, and provide guidance to developing engineers and designers.
The work centers on HVAC system design, with opportunities to work across broader MEP applications including plumbing and fire protection. The ideal candidate brings strong technical capabilities, sound judgment, and the ability to develop practical, efficient, and code-compliant solutions.
What You’ll Do- Design HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, municipal, and office projects
- Support the design and coordination of plumbing and fire protection systems
- Perform system calculations, equipment selections, and Life Cycle Cost Analysis
- Develop construction documents and project-specific specifications
- Coordinate mechanical designs with architects, engineers, clients, and other design professionals
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections
- Serve as Engineer of Record on appropriate projects
- Direct and mentor junior engineers and designers
- Support construction, installation, and operational testing
- Ensure designs comply with applicable NFPA, ASHRAE, IBC, and other industry standards
- Utilize Revit, AutoCAD MEP, TRACE 3D, and other engineering/design software
- 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience in building design
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Strong experience designing HVAC systems for commercial or institutional buildings
- Experience with plumbing and/or fire protection systems is highly valued but not required
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD MEP, MS Office, and TRACE 3D
- Strong technical, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
Healthcare experience is preferred. Candidates with strong building mechanical HVAC/Plumbing/Fire Protection design experience in other markets are encouraged to apply.
Preferred:
Certified Plumbing Designer, LEED, Green Globes, or other sustainability credentials.
