Lead Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

• Our client is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support EPC and industrial projects from our Charlotte Engineering Design Center.
• This role provides technical leadership and project oversight, ensuring mechanical designs are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget while leading a small team of engineers and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Mechanical Lead on EPC power and industrial projects
• Lead mechanical design, coordination, and technical execution
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources; provide status updates
• Prepare RFQs, evaluate bids, and review vendor documentation
• Develop scopes of work, job notes, and engineering deliverables
• Conduct field walkdowns and support constructability reviews
• Lead and mentor engineers and designers; review technical work
• Interface with clients, vendors, and internal teams
• Support proposals, including man-hour estimates
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements
• Seal and sign engineering documents (PE), as applicable

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 15+ years of experience in power, energy, or industrial sectors

Strong experience with:

• Heat exchangers, pumps, and rotating equipment
• ASME pressure vessels and piping systems
• Power plant equipment (CTGs, STGs, HRSGs)
• Knowledge of ASME codes and EPC execution
• Strong leadership and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience leading mechanical scope on combined cycle EPC projects
