Lead Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview
- Our client is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support EPC and industrial projects from our Charlotte Engineering Design Center.
- This role provides technical leadership and project oversight, ensuring mechanical designs are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget while leading a small team of engineers and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Mechanical Lead on EPC power and industrial projects
- Lead mechanical design, coordination, and technical execution
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources; provide status updates
- Prepare RFQs, evaluate bids, and review vendor documentation
- Develop scopes of work, job notes, and engineering deliverables
- Conduct field walkdowns and support constructability reviews
- Lead and mentor engineers and designers; review technical work
- Interface with clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Support proposals, including man-hour estimates
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements
- Seal and sign engineering documents (PE), as applicable
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of experience in power, energy, or industrial sectors
Strong experience with:
- Heat exchangers, pumps, and rotating equipment
- ASME pressure vessels and piping systems
- Power plant equipment (CTGs, STGs, HRSGs)
- Knowledge of ASME codes and EPC execution
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience leading mechanical scope on combined cycle EPC projects
