Distribution Designer Launch Your Engineering Career in the Growing Power Industry

Are you an Engineering or Engineering Technology graduate looking to build a rewarding career in the energy and utilities sector? We're seeking an enthusiastic Distribution Designer to join our growing Power Delivery team. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals who enjoy problem-solving, working with technology, collaborating with experienced engineers, and seeing their designs come to life in the field.

No prior utility distribution experience is required. We provide training, mentorship, and hands-on project exposure to help you develop the technical skills needed to succeed.

What You'll Do

As a Distribution Designer, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, designers, and technicians to support projects that help deliver reliable power to communities and businesses. In this role, you'll gain exposure to both office-based design work and field activities while building valuable engineering and project coordination skills.

Key responsibilities include:

+ Assist with the design and development of electrical distribution projects.

+ Create and update engineering drawings, maps, and construction documents using industry-standard design software.

+ Support the preparation of project estimates, specifications, and technical documentation.

+ Collect and review field information to support engineering designs and ensure project accuracy.

+ Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop practical and cost-effective solutions.

+ Help coordinate project schedules, materials, and design deliverables.

+ Ensure work meets company standards, quality expectations, and safety requirements.

+ Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and project stakeholders.

+ Participate in both office and occasional field activities to gain a comprehensive understanding of power delivery systems.

What We're Looking For

We're more interested in your potential, willingness to learn, and problem-solving abilities than direct industry experience.

Minimum Qualifications

+ Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, GIS, Surveying, or a related technical field.

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

+ Ability to learn new software programs and technical processes.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is helpful but not required:

+ Experience using AutoCAD, GIS, or other design software.

+ Internship, co-op, academic project, or coursework related to engineering, utilities, mapping, drafting, or infrastructure.

+ Experience working in a technical, construction, engineering, or field environment.

+ Knowledge of electrical systems, utilities, or power delivery infrastructure.

Why Join Us?

+ Entry-level opportunity with training and mentorship.

+ Career growth within a rapidly expanding power and utility sector.

+ Exposure to both engineering design and field operations.

+ Opportunity to work on projects that directly impact local communities and critical infrastructure.

+ Collaborative team environment with experienced professionals invested in your success.

+ Build highly transferable technical, project management, and engineering skills.

Work Environment

This position combines office-based design work with occasional field visits to project sites. You'll use technologies such as AutoCAD and GIS platforms while working closely with engineers and project teams to develop solutions that support the electric power grid. Some local travel may be required.
